Garner

The town of Garner was settled as early as the 1750’s, but was incorporated as a town in 1905. The local economy originally was supported by cotton and tobacco farms. In the 1850s when the NC railroad was being built, Garner was one of the many towns created by the railroad.

Today, Garner is a growing community of almost 28,000 residents. Located at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Interstate 40, Garner is about 8 miles south of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina’s capital city. Garner residents are closer to downtown Raleigh than many Raleigh residents are, but the town has retained the hometown atmosphere that makes it special. This diverse community has many amenities to offer. With over 350 acres of parkland, a thriving business economy, safe and beautiful neighborhoods, quality schools, great community events and a plethora of shopping and local entertainment venues, Garner has something for everyone.
